Set after the events of the first film (2023), Mario and Luigi decide to go on a break from their new plumbing jobs by taking a vacation at the desert country of Sarasaland. But it all goes wrong when a portal sends the two of them, along with rivals Wario and Waluigi, a superfan Toad named Toadette, a lost Yoshi and Bowser's loyal son Bowser Jr. to the mysterious land of subcon, a prison realm taken over by the evil King Wart, who has total control over all of Subcon's magic.
