For years, many of the magical and mystical lands described in myths, legends and folklore (colloquially known as “homelands”) were occupied by an enigmatic tyrant known only as the adversary. To escape the adversary and his plundering army, many of the creatures and characters known as "fables" have fled into the real world and created a territory known as "Fabletown" in colonial America, now located in modern Manhattan. To mask their presence from humans, all nonhuman fables must buy a spell known as "glamor" that allows them to look human, or be transferred to a rural community known as "The Farm." Reformed Big Bad Wolf, Bigby Wolf (voiced by Adam Harrington), is the sheriff of Fabletown and is responsible for hiding the world's community and making them law-abiding.
