Invictus

On 11 February, Nelson Mandela is released from Victor Verster Prison after having spent 27 years in captivity. Four years later Mandela is elected the first black President of South Africa. His presidency faces enormous challenges in the post-Apartheid era, including rampant poverty and crime, and Mandela is particularly concerned about racial divisions between black and white South Africans.

Single mother Lisa Decker drops off her young daughter, Julie for her first day of kindergarten. She watches on as Julie is befriended by two girls, Kayla and Sam. Kayla's Mitchell and Sam's father Hunter introduce themselves and become close friends after seeing the bond between their children.
