Theron is a fictional character and the secondary antagonist of the film adaption of 300.
He is a corrupt politician who is a high-ranking member of the Spartan Council that desires the throne of Sparta for himself.
When a Persian messenger arrives at Sparta demanding of Leonidas for all of Sparta to immediately submit to the rule of Xerxes' empire and refused, Theron began plotting behind the backs of not only his king, but his people as well when a different Persian messenger bribed the Spartan high priests, the Ephors mountains of gold for their silence and betrayal of all Sparta.
Theron demanded of Queen Gorgo, Leonidas' wife to submit to him in return for "help" to persuade the Spartan Council to send reinforcements to aid her husband fight against the invading Persian forces of Xerxes' armies, but publicly betrayed her upon her pleas towards the Council by faslely proclaiming her of voluntary adultery under accusation by trying to promulgate dirt on their king in his arrogance. Enraged for such a public betrayal, Gorgo fatally stabbed Theron for his treachery, which also exposed a purse full of Persian gold, further exposing his betrayal for the entire Spartan Council to discover, leading them to unanimously agree to fight against the Persians.
