Biography
The Invincible Hulk is a 2010 American monster film directed by Gareth Edwards. It is a sequel to The Incredible Hulk (2008) and is the sixth film in the MCU. The film stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Gerard Butler, Samuel Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Aaron Eckhart and Anne Hathaway. In the film, Bruce Banner and Betty Ross attempt to restart their relationship while caught in the crossfire of the leader reigning terror and the return of Bruce's father who is a Terrorist. With the help of his cousin and General Ross, Bruce must accept his life as the Hulk.
The film was officially announced in March 2008 and Edwards was announced as the director in January 2009. Principal photography began in March 2009 in the United States and Canada and ended in July 2009.
Edward Norton, along with Liv Tyler, William Hurt and Tim Blake Nelson were set to return from the previous movie. Gerard Butler was casted in the role of David Banner. Originally, both Jon Bernthal and Gary Oldman were auditioned for the part but dropped out. Anne Hathaway was confirmed to be Jennifer Walters.
The Invincible Hulk was theatrically released on May 16, 2010, to generally positive reviews from critics who praised the direction, visual effects, music, cinematography, respect to the source material, and the performances of Norton, Hathaway, Butler and Hurt, but criticized the script, characters and Hulk's limited screen time. The film was a box office success, grossing $529 million worldwide against a production budget of $160 million, print and advertisement costs of $100 million, and a break-even point of $380 million. The Immortal Hulk released on May 31, 2013.
