Sphenosuchus is an extinct genus of crocodylomorph, a group that includes modern crocodiles, that lived in South Africa during the Early Jurassic period. Known for its long legs and terrestrial lifestyle, Sphenosuchus was a carnivorous animal, with the type species Sphenosuchus acutus being the only described species in the genus. The well-preserved skull and other skeletal elements provide valuable insights into the early evolution of crocodylomorphs and their relationship to birds.
