Seed of Bonnie (2001)

Seed of Bonnie is a 2001 black comedy slasher film, the fifth installment of the United Saints' Child's Play series, and sequel to 1995's Bride of Bonnie as well as the first film to be distributed by another company since the original Child's Play. The film was directed by Sam Raimi, who created the series and has written all of the films (except the 2016 remake), and stars Geena Davis, Jamie Foxx, Ginnifer Goodwin, Tobin Bell, Zach Braff and Richard Dreyfuss. The film is set six years after Bride of Bonnie and follows a young doll named Gary, the son of Bonnie and Tilly, resurrecting his parents, causing chaos. The film, shot in Canada, continues the series' evolution from the pure horror genre of the first three films to a hybrid horror-comedy. It was the last Child's Play film from the original continuity to be released in theaters, with all future installments to be released direct-to-video until the 2016 reboot. The film was followed by another sequel, Curse of Bonnie, released on home video and Netflix in 2008. Seed of Bonnie grossed over $24 million against a $12 million budget. Like its predecessor, the film received mixed reviews from critics.
