Sarah Bäckman is a Swedish former armwrestler. She currently works for WWE in its developmental territory, NXT Wrestling. Bäckman competed as "Spirit" in the Swedish version of MGM Television's Gladiators franchise. She is known for her time in WWE, where she remained from 2013 to 2014.
An armwrestling champion (2006-2013),
Sarah began armwrestling at the age of 14. She is one of the most decorated armwrestlers in the world, being an eight-time World Armwrestling Champion, an eight-time European Armwrestling Champion, and an 11-time Swedish Armwrestling Champion. She retired from armwrestling to pursue a wrestling career in May 2013, when she decided to sign with WWE. Bäckman played "Spirit" in the Swedish version of Gladiators (or Gladiatorerna, as the show, which airs on TV4, is called in Sweden). Bäckman replaced "Stinger," who was played by Cajsa Nilsson. In an article for the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Bäckman said that "being a Gladiator was a childhood dream of hers."
In March 2013, it was reported that Bäckman signed a developmental contract with WWE and would be moving to their developmental territory, NXT Wrestling.
