Ryo Hazuki is the main protagonist of the Shenmue series. He is an 18-year-old Japanese teenager who lives in Yamanose, Yokosuka, Japan. His mother died of an illness when he was three years old. Ryo has been taught martial arts by his father, Iwao Hazuki, since he was seven. After his father was killed by Lan Di and the Dragon Mirror was stolen, Ryo swears vengeance for his father and goes on a journey throughout his hometown and China.
