Ryls are immortal creatures, and first cousins to the Wood Nymphs. They are ruled by a King under the command of Ak, the Master Woodsman of the World. The Ryls of Burzee are ruled by a Prince. The Ryls are generally merry and light-hearted, and popular with the other immortals, although they are also very busy. It is the duty of the Ryls to watch over the flowers and plants. They feed them and place dyes in the soil to color the mature flowers. The Ryls of Burzee are friends of Santa Claus and keep the cupboard of his home in the Laughing Valley of Hohaho filled with food. In this way, he does not have to plow down the wildflowers in the Valley to grow his own food. They also supply him with the colors of their flowers, which he uses to paint toys. During the battle against the Awgwas and their allies, the Ryls used their sticks to stab the Goozzle-Goblins.
