Biography

Roaches are small insects found in various locations in the apartment complex that will slip into Sam's pack when walked over. They appear to have been affected by The Visitor, as they slowly begin to show signs of intelligence when enough gather together. They can become a potential party member after following a hidden questline. Their hitchhiking will then be indicated by the messages "you feel itchy", "you feel something moving in your things", "you feel a tingle on your shoulder", or "you hear a small chirp". These messages display occasionally as the player walks around. When these messages display, a roach can be found by entering the inventory and scrolling to find them as an item. They can be selected with the options to kill them, release them, or place them back in your bags. The hitchhiking messages will continue until the roaches are removed or Sam returns to his apartment. When returning to your apartment with one or more roaches in your bag, they will climb out and infest the apartment. Finding a roach in your apartment and interacting with it will give the option to kill them, eat them, or give them a small pat on the head. When enough roaches have arrived, they may start to bring notes for Sam to read. Sybil will also comment on the roaches infesting Sam's apartment when their numbers grow large enough. Cooking food, leaving it on the table, and then sleeping overnight will cause more roaches to appear in the apartment the next morning. Once the roaches have grown enough in numbers, they will begin to appear in groups of 2-3 in the apartment. If the player is kind to the roaches and continues to leave food out for them, eventually a large amount of them will appear gathered under a trench coat and hat in the bathroom. They will then offer their collective services to the player as a party member. If the player kills at least one roach per day, they will receive the option to attempt to gas the roaches out if they possess a Gas Bomb. This will result in the roaches declaring war on Sam.
