Rey, is one of the main protagonists of the Star Wars franchise. She is a Jedi Knight that fights to help the Resistance. Rey begins as a scavenger of the desert planet Jakku until she encounters Resistance droid BB-8 and former stormtrooper Finn (FN-2187) as well as Han Solo and Chewbacca. After discovering that she is an extremely powerful Force-sensitive being, she is trained in the Force by the reluctant Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and later by his sister Leia Organa
During her journey, she also develops a complicated relationship with the son of Leia and Han Solo, Ben Solo (known as the dark warrior Kylo Ren), as he is her archenemy but also her love interest. She and Ben share a Force-bond, later revealed to be the result of them being two halves of a dyad in the Force. Upon learning what happened at the night that Ben Solo fell to the dark side, Rey becomes determined to bring Kylo Ren back to the light. She eventually succeeds in doing so, when she risks herself to save his life after their last duel on the ruins of the second Death Star, and Ben Solo is convinced to return to the light out of love for his parents and Rey
She also discovers that she is the granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine, the Emperor of the fallen Galactic Empire and the Dark Lord of the Sith. However, just like Luke, she resists the dark side of the Force and, with the help of Ben Solo and the Jedi of the past, she defeats her grandfather. She then rejects her lineage and adopts the Skywalker surname to honor the ones she truly considers as family
Half a century after the Battle of Yavin, Rey had become a Jedi Master and was working to establish a New Jedi Order
She is portrayed by Daisy Ridley (who also voices Cottontail from the 2018 live action film Peter Rabbit and Mary Debenham in Murder on the Orient Express 2017 adaptation), and by Cailey Fleming (who also portrayed Judith Grimes from The Walking Dead franchise and young Sylvie Laufeydottir in Loki) as a child
