He has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Scrubs (2001), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005), and Master of None (2015). He gained widespread recognition for co-directing and starring in the 2014 documentary Meet the Patels, which humorously explores his experiences with love and arranged marriage. In 2023, Patel joined the main cast of the Fox comedy series Animal Control, playing Amit Patel, an overwhelmed yet endearing family man and Animal Control officer.
