Rachel Drummond

Rachel Drummond is a character from the American gothic soap opera Dark Shadows (1966-1971). After spending her childhood in the care of the cruel Gregory Trask and his wife Minerva at their school, Worthington Hall, she was forced into a teaching job there. She had a brief respite from the Trasks when she took a job as governess for the two children of Edward Collins, Jamison and Nora. However, the Collins family had their own dangers and secrets, and she soon found herself back at Worthington after Trask tracked her down and convinced Mr. Collins to send his children to the school, putting Rachel out of a job. She resumed her position there and found her childhood friend, Tim Shaw, unwittingly engaged to the Trasks' daughter, Charity. After constant struggles with her position and employers, she was under threat of jail or worse for helping Tim hide when he was accused of murder. While going to visit him at his hiding place, however, she was fatally shot by a mind-controlled Judith Collins and then refused Tim's offer to get a doctor for fear he would be caught. She died with him by her side, telling him she could see her father coming to get her and take her home.
