First appeared in Captain America #217 in 1977 as Marvel Boy and was created by Don Glut, Roy Thomas, and John Buscema. Wendell Vaughn was a former U.S. Army lieutenant and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who acquired the Quantum Bands and became Quasar.
