Phillippe (French: /fi.lip/) is a temporary companion who is found in the Fungal Lair. He appears as an incongruously fanciful anthropomorphic moth. He is found imprisoned in a stalk of fungus, guarded by two Infected. He will join your party immediately when rescued, sending one companion home if there are already four party members. Phillippe is not what he seems. His appearance as an adorable moth is a disguise intended to fool human prey, and an effect of the hallucinogenic spores present in the air of the fungal lair. He will attempt to encourage the player onward, and get them to embrace the Spore Mother, who appears as a princess. Sam may refuse to accept that his new friend was an illusion and conclude that poor Phillippe was being controlled by the spores, swearing to avenge him.
