After her husband Gerry dies from a brain tumor, Holly Kennedy is left devastated and isolated in her New York City apartment. She begins receiving mysterious letters from Gerry, which he arranged to be delivered after his death, each containing a task or message to help her cope and start living again. With the help of her friends, Holly follows Gerry's instructions, which lead her on adventures and help her find herself and new love.
