Norman Eshley

Norman Eshley was born on May 30, 1945 in Bristol, England, UK. He is an actor, known for Warship (1973), Man About the House (1973) and Department S (1969). He has been married to Rachel Spiers since May 30, 2015. He was previously married to Lynette Braid and Millicent Martin. In 1993 he was a passenger in a car which was involved in a crash in the Dordogne in France. He sustained a punctured lung, a cracked sternum, a broken shoulder blade and a fractured arm, and head and neck injuries. The head injuries resulted in serious long term memory problems, meaning he could not memorize scripts, drastically affecting his acting career, particularly theatre work, which he was no longer able to do. Television work was also reduced to one-off guest appearances. Second husband of Millicent Martin. Toured with the Bristol Old Vic in Hamlet, 1966-67. Often seen in shady or villainous roles. Worked in a bank before training as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. On the stage from 1965 at the Bristol Old Vic in 'Tiger at the Gates'. Best known on TV as the snobbish, starchy and ultra conservative estate agent Jeffrey Fourmile, perennial foil in the classic sitcom George and Mildred.
