Nita Ney, stage name of Marcelle Nita Strada (Paris, November 8, 1908 - Rio de Janeiro, 1996) was a Brazilian actress. Daughter of Italian immigrants who settled in Rio de Janeiro, Nita Ney entered the artistic career through dance, as a student of the Russian teacher Maria Ollenewa, taking classes along with her sister Yvonne Strada. Her film debut was as an extra in the film O Dever de Amar, a production by Paulo Benedetti, directed by Vittorio Verga, in 1924. Four years later her life would change completely when she was cast by director Humberto Mauro to be the protagonist of the classic Brasa Dormida, in 1928. And this casting happened accidentally, since Mauro went to the house of the future star's parents, actually looking for her sister Yvonne, but was impressed by Nita Ney's beauty.
