Nicholas Osborn (born March, the 17th 1963), secretly known as Electro Monster is the founder and CEO of Osborn Unlimited, the main antagonist of the first season of Chargeshock Thompson & the Justice Avengers, becoming a secondary antagonist and an anti-hero in the second season, but then becomes the final antagonist of Season 2, before going back to being the main villain for the rest of the series.
Appearance
He is a tall middle aged man with slicked back hair with green eyes. In season 1 he wears a white shirt with a blue sleeveless tuxedo. He tends to have an easy-going smile. Suits. No ties. In the second season, however, he wears an all black suit with no ties to match his evil look.
As Electro Monster, he looks like a creature made of electricity.
Personality
Nicholas is rather eccentric and somewhat egotistical. He tries to be both successful and be true to himself, which is sometimes a challenge. He hires Jake, Michael, Max, Dennis and Liam, regardless of knowing that they're young.
At first, he appeared to use his resources for good causes, like supplying the Justice Avengers with high tech gear and increasing security. However, Nicholas was really The Electro Monster, working behind everyone's backs to create an army of monsters to take humanity's evolution to the next stage. While being described as charismatic, charming and helpful, later on he shows his true colors as being cruel, sadistic, manipulative and will not hesitate to kill, maim or torture anyone who stands in his way. He is also somewhat misantrophic, and views humanity as weaker beings who do not understand change when given to them, so he deduced that they should evolve by force if necessary.
According to his former employee, Quincy Jackson, he has a polarizing personality. He is calm, soft-spoken, and unfailingly polite, thus manipulating unwitting people into getting his way. His soft-spoken nature and charm places him in a positive light to the public.
Despite his initially resplendent appearance to the public, behind the scenes, his goals are almost always either motivated by the desire to get rid of Chargeshock and the Justice Avengers or motivated by profit. This amoral desire to maximize profits has typically put him on the wrong side of superheroes.
Powers and Abilities
Nicholas has enormous brain power and is quick to invent new things like the Justice Avengers communicators and containment cells for super-criminals.
As Electro Monster:
Electrokinesis: His main power.
Electrokinetic Physiology: After Electro Monster became hyper charged, his cellular structures transformed into living electricity.
Electrostatic Energy Generation: Electro Monster was able to generate a lot of electrical energy through his body and uses it for offense and defense.
He also has superhuman Strength durability, speed, reflexes, capabilities, and dexterity that improve his power despite his bulky frame.
Weakness
He can't use his powers without turning in his monster form, remaining vulnerable like a normal human. The transformation needs a little time so it can be stopped by knocking him out after end of transforming or with some Sedative.
Vulnerability to Water: Electro Monster has a weakness for water because water is a good conductor for electricity that caused him to electrocute himself and The Frightening Five when an angry Firestrike made a hole on Dr. Tarantula's underwater lab. In his prison cell in Providence, his cell was filled of shallow water and he was tightly locked that he was unable to move.
Trivia
Nicholas once asked an employee to get him a half latte, half energy drink.
Nicholas Osborn parallels titular protagonist Jake Thompson in many ways:
- Same powers
- Both have beloved mothers who disappeared at one point
- Both are good leaders
In fact, in the episode "Secret Ninja Party", Electro Monster and Chargeshock semi-bond over their shared Electrokinesis.
Nicholas Osborn seems to be compared to Norman Osborn and Lex Luthor. Probably because he and Norman both share the same initials, while he and Lex share the same obsession with defeating their Arch-Enemies.
