Nero is the main antagonist of the 2009 Star Trek film. He was a Romulan miner from the 24th Century and captain of the mining vessel Narada. After Romulus' destruction in 2387 due to a supernova, Nero had blamed Ambassador Spock, who had promised to prevent this. He traveled back in time to the year 2233 and destroyed the USS Kelvin, killing James T. Kirk's father George Kirk, creating the Kelvin timeline. He is named after the Roman emperor Nero.
