Minesweeper is a mutated passenger from the crashed bus in the Main Lobby, caught up in the war zone of Mr. Henderson's mind, found in the green tent in the warped version of the Landlord's Apartment. He gives Sam a Metal Detector to detect Landmites and buried treasure. He offers to pay the player $10 each for defused mines, and awards the player Betty, a tame landmite, for bringing him 12. He can replace a broken Metal Detector for $80. Minesweeper is no longer aggressive, but his mutation and the time warping in the apartment have made him strangely unfazed by his new existence. He has spent twelve subjective years on the battlefield here. Before the arrival of the Visitor, he worked as an insurance broker and had a wife.
