Michael GiacchinoΒ (/dΚΙΛkiΛnoΚ/Β jΙ-KEE-noh; Italian:Β [dΚakΛkiΛno]; born October 10, 1967) is an American film, television, and video game score composer. He has received many accolades for his work, including anΒ Academy AwardΒ forΒ Up (2009), anΒ EmmyΒ forΒ LostΒ (2004), and threeΒ Grammy Awards.
Giacchino is known for his collaborations with directorsΒ J. J. Abrams,Β Brad Bird,Β Matt Reeves,Β Pete Docter,Β Colin Trevorrow,Β Jon Watts,Β Gareth Edwards,Β Drew Goddard,Β J. A. Bayona,Β The Wachowskis,Β Taika Waititi, andΒ Thomas Bezucha. His film scores include several films from theΒ Mission: Impossible,Β Jurassic World,Β Marvel Cinematic Universe,Β Star TrekΒ reboot series, eightΒ Pixar Animation StudiosΒ films, multipleΒ DisneyΒ films,Β Rogue One,Β The Batman, and several other films. He also composed the score for the video game seriesΒ Medal of Honour andΒ Call of DutyΒ and the television seriesΒ Alias,Β Lost, andΒ Fringe.
In 2018, he ventured into directing and, in 2022, directed the Marvel StudiosΒ Disney+Β specialΒ Werewolf by Night.
