Michael was born in Lambeth in London, to Alfred and Mary. He has an older sister called Wendy. In 1969, he moved to Worthing on the south coast. 1974 Joined the theater, was involved in productions both on and off stage developing his love of the industry. In 1979, he worked on his first film, Quadrophenia then on to other productions working in films TV and stage productions around the world.
