Lauren Montgomery has an enthusiasm for storytelling combined with a love of fashion, textiles, and clothing history. Whether the project is period, contemporary, fantasy, or science fiction, she creates unique costumes that support the story and define the characters.
With a background in team sports—she was voted M.V.P. of her high school ice hockey team—she thrives in the collaborative environment of filmmaking. She works with directors and production designers to create a visual tableau and collaborates with actors to bring characters to life through their clothing choices and how the costumes are worn and lived in. Additionally, she partners with producers to keep a show on budget.
In 2011, she was nominated for an Ontario Arts Council Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award for Costume Design for her body of work.
