Biography

Kristina Asmus was born Kristina Igorevna Myasnikova on April 14, 1988, in Kaliningrad, Moscow region, RSFSR, USSR (now Korolev, Russia). As a child, she was involved in gymnastics, becoming a Candidate for Master of Sports. In her mid-teens, while still in high school, she played the role of Zhenya Komelkova in a theatrical adaptation, directed by Elena Makhona, of Boris Vasilev's novel "A zori zdes tikhie..." ("The Dawns Here Are Quiet...") at the Makhona ELena ("MEL") director's theater in Moscow. After graduating from high school, she played Fantine in Ivan Elagin's The Portrait of Mademoiselle Tarsi as well as the titular role of Silviya, a Russian adaption of A.R. Gurney's play, both of which were directed by Nataliya Ermakova from the Royal Theater for a Young Audience at Moscow's Theater of the Kind Fairy Tale. Before becoming an actress, she worked in the modeling business. In 2008, she went to Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theater School for a course taught by famous Soviet-era actor Boris Klyuev and graduated in 2012. Her debut on screen was in early 2010 as Varvara Chernous in Maksim Pezhemskiy's Interns (2010). After this, she was named "Sexiest Woman of the Year" in Russia's Maxim magazine, appearing on the October 2010 cover with a full pictorial and interview inside. In 2011, the budding actress starred in the role of Sasha in the detective story An Alibi for Two (2011), by Nikolay Gusev. She lives in Moscow with her husband, an actor and comedian known as Garik Kharlamov, and their daughter Anastasiya.
