Kiyone Makibi (真備 清音, Makibi Kiyone) is a main character in multiple Tenchi Muyo! spin-off series but is not featured in the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki continuity. She is an original creation of Naoko Hasegawa, the screenwriter for the first Tenchi Muyo! OVA series and appears in almost all of Hasegawa's novels, the Mihoshi Special, Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, the Tenchi movies, and in the Pretty Sammy spinoffs. In most of her appearances, Kiyone is a skilled Galaxy Police detective and serves as a foil to her partner and best friend, Mihoshi.
