Kitana, sometimes referred to as Princess Kitana and once as Kitana Kahn, is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. The Princess of Edenia, daughter of Sindel and the former Kahnum of Outworld, she is one of the adopted daughters of the Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn and serves as the love interest for series protagonist Liu Kang. Kitana made her debut in Mortal Kombat II and has been a playable character since, appearing in full capacity in almost every game. A new version of Kitana returns in Mortal Kombat 1 as a playable character, once again serving as a supporting character in the game's Story Mode. A counterpart from the previous timeline also appears as a supporting character.
