Joe Root (b. 1990, Sheffield) is one of England’s greatest ever cricketers. A technically gifted right-hander and occasional off-spin bowler, he has played in both Test and ODI cricket and captained England from 2017–22. He has scored over 13,500 Test runs, placing him second on the all-time list behind only Sachin Tendulkar. With his consistency, longevity, and elegant batting, Root is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats of the game.
