This was a proposed film by Joe Carnahan and would have been the first in a triology of Daredevil films by Twenty Century Fox. The film was pitched as a last ditch attempt to make Daredevuil film before the rights reverted to Marvel.
The proposed film would have been set in the 70s and would have been an R-rated crime thriller inspired by the Daredevil comics by Frank Millar. When describing his vision for a Daredevil trilogy, Joe Carnaham said “The trilogy was like musical movements. So Daredevil ‘73 was going to be classic rock. Daredevil ‘79 was punk. And Daredevil ‘85 was New Wave. They were all going to be period.”
The film project never got picked up as the rights to Daredevil reverted to Marvel shortly after, despites attempts by Fox to negoticate for more time.
To help pitch the film, Joe Carnaham actually edited his own trailer for the film using other films and comicbok panels from the comics. Here he depicted the film as a violent gritty film where Daredevil fought against the Kingpin to the sound of music by Curtis Mayfield.
