Jon Bernthal (often misspelled as Joe Bernthal) is an American actor best known for his intense and gritty performances in film and television. Born on September 20, 1976, in Washington, D.C., Bernthal studied acting at The School of Moscow Art Theatre in Russia and later at Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theater Training.
He rose to prominence for his role as Shane Walsh on the hit TV series The Walking Dead. He gained further recognition portraying Frank Castle / The Punisher in Netflix's Daredevil and The Punisher series, earning critical acclaim for his emotionally complex take on the iconic antihero.
Bernthal has also appeared in major films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury, Sicario, Ford v Ferrari, and King Richard. Known for his raw, physical style of acting, he often portrays tough, conflicted characters.
