Janet Perlstein is a fictional character from The Magic School Bus, who has been featured in both the book and TV series respectively. She is a student at Walkerville Elementary School, but is in another class and is Arnold's abrasive, stubborn, arrogant, and know-it-all paternal first cousin who tends to brag about how she can be better at anything. Janet most often tries to sabotage Ms. Frizzle's class in some way to selfishly gain something for herself, even going as far to bullying her own cousin along with cheating. She appears in many respects a lot like her cousin Arnold, except only more in feminine aspects. She has red hair, but her eyes are blue instead of green. Her attire is similar to Arnold's, too, except her yellow and white striped shirt is short-sleeved and has her initial of a blue J on her shirt (similar to Ralphie) and wears a skirt instead of jeans/pants. She wears yellow and white striped socks with blue Mary Janes and her glasses are pink with oval frames. Despite bearing a striking resemblance to Arnold, she is the complete polar opposite of her cousin.
