Humberto "Hunk" Garrett (born January 13, 1995) is a former engineering cadet at the Galaxy Garrison, a genius in heavy mechanics and a specialist in armor. In the Chargeshock Thompson & the Justice Avengers series, he is the "rock" of the team, providing both massive technical support and emotional stability. He is best friends with Lance McClain and Pidge Holt, forming the legendary "Garrison Trio".
Physical Appearance
Hunk is the most imposing member of the team, with a massive stature, broad shoulders, medium brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes with thick, square-shaped eyebrows and brute physical strength. He wears an orange strip of cloth tied around his forehead, long enough to reach his mid-back, that keeps his hair out of the way but allows his bangs to frame his face. Hunk's hair is cut rather short, his bangs reaching just under his eyes, while the rest of his hair barely reaches his neck. Of the Paladins, Hunk is the second-tallest.
His civilian outfits consists of a bright yellow shirt line with black, with the sleeves cut to his forearms. He wears a green, orange, and gray vest with a tall collar and outwardly padded with thick shoulder pads over his shirt. His shirt line is cut to reach longest at the center and falls far over his pants' waistline, where he wears a gray and orange utility belt with a pouch on either hip. His arms are tattooed with Polynesian motifs (a nod to his Samoan origins).
In his Paladin armor, Hunk's uniform mirrors his fellow Paladins but with yellow accents to match his Lion. His armor is bulkier than the others, reinforced to withstand direct artillery hits, with bright yellow accents.
Hunk's gray gloves are fingerless and lined at the wrist with a thick black cuff. He wears baggy tan pants, padded at the knees a darker brown, and tucked into his white boots accented with black and orange.
Personality
Hunk is the definition of a "gentle giant." Although he is capable of knocking down a wall with one punch, he prefers to build rather than destroy. He's extremely intelligent, but unlike Pidge (who's theoretical), he's a practical mind - he wants to know what metal feels like and how pressure works.
He is empathetic, caring, and often the "voice of caution" in the group. Although he suffers from mild anxiety about the unknown, his loyalty to Lance and Pidge sees him take on any monster. He's the only one who can calm things down when Keith and Lance start arguing.
Powers and Abilities
Superhuman Strength and Durability: Due to his physique and training, Hunk can lift immense weights and has the highest resistance to pain of the group.
Heavy Engineering Genius: A specialist in propulsion, armor, and survivability systems, he helped reinforce the Thompson Industries Tower.
Master Chef: Has the ability to transform any ingredient (even alien ones) into delicious food. His kitchen is where the team heals after missions.
Equipment (Bayard): Transforms into a massive energy cannon (Energy Cannon) that can shoot lasers and can also be used as an impenetrable defensive shield.
Relationships
Lance McClain: Best friend. Hunk is Lance's "anchor", the one who knows all his insecurities behind the mask of a conqueror. Lance trusts Hunk more than anyone else.
Katie "Pidge" Holt: The genius partner. Together they form the technical "brains" of the multiverse. Pidge handles the codes, Hunk handles the massive hardware.
Adrien (Iron Cat): Hunk is the one who "repairs" Adrien's armor after every tough battle, while also giving him fatherly advice.
Trivia
Hunk suffers from motion sickness, which is ironic considering he pilots an intergalactic Lion.
He created a "snack delivery" system through the Tower's ventilation ducts so that Jake's nephews wouldn't go hungry during training.
He is the only one who managed to make Kagami smile after serving him an apple pie made from his grandmother's recipe.
Hunk dreams of owning an intergalactic restaurant chain, but prefers to cook personally for his friends.
