Heitor Teixeira PereiraΒ (Portuguese pronunciation:[ejΛtoΚΒ tejΛΚejΙΎΙΒ peΛΙΎejΙΎΙ]) (born November 29, 1960), orΒ Heitor TP, is a Brazilian composer. In his career, Pereira has recorded with the bandΒ Simply RedΒ and several famous musicians, such asΒ Elton John,Β Rod Stewart,Β k.d. lang,Β Milton Nascimento,Β andΒ Jack Johnson,Β and currently works as a film score composer, as well as a musician atΒ Hans Zimmer's studio, he is best known for being the composer of theΒ Despicable MeΒ franchise. Although primarily a guitarist, he also provided backing vocals live for the Simply Red song "Thrill Me". He also collaborates with film directorsΒ Chris Renaud,Β Pierre Coffin,Β Kyle Balda,Β Raja Gosnell, andΒ Cal Brunker.
In 1994, he released a solo album in theΒ UKΒ calledΒ Heitor TP, which featured a guest appearance fromΒ Mick HucknallΒ on the track "Manchester." Heitor left Simply Red to concentrate on his solo career. He played guitar and composed additional music for soundtracks likeΒ Gladiator,Β Mission: Impossible 2,Β The Road to El Dorado,Β Pearl Harbor,Β I Am Sam,Β Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,Β Rango,Β Madagascar, andΒ Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
In 2003, Pereira contributed the song "Remember Me" to the soundtrack forΒ Something's Gotta Give.
In 2006, Heitor Pereira won aΒ Grammy AwardΒ for 'Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying a Vocalist' on a version of the song "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" byΒ Chris BottiΒ andΒ Sting.
In 2011, he played guitar on the filmΒ Cowboys & Aliens soundtrack.
