Born on September 25, 1975, in Florence, Italy, Gabriele Ranfagni is a seasoned animator and visual effects professional with nearly three decades of experience in the animation and VFX industry. He began his creative journey in 1995 as a 2D animator and storyboard artist, spending five years in traditional animation and ten years in storyboarding before transitioning to CGI animation in 2010.
He refined his 3D skills through iAnimate and secured his first CGI animation role at TeamTO the same year. Over the years, he has worked internationally across studios in Scotland, Iceland, Belgium, and Canada. In 2017, he joined Cinesite in Montréal and later worked at MPC, where he supervised and mentored animation teams on high-profile visual effects projects.
Gabriele has contributed to over 40 major productions, including Ant‑Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), Napoleon (2023), Cats (2019), and House of the Dragon (2022). His expertise includes character animation, creature FX, shading, grooming, rigging, muscle, and skin simulation.
In addition to his studio work, Gabriele is passionate about teaching. Since the mid‑2000s, he has taught gesture drawing, human and animal anatomy, creature design, and animation at institutions such as the Florence International School of Comics and the NEMO Academy. He continues to mentor young artists through workshops and online sessions.
