Frozen Planet is a 2011 British nature documentary series, co-produced by the BBC ZDF and The Open University and filmed by the BBC Natural History Unit. The same production team responsible for the award-winning series The Blue Planet (2001) and Planet Earth (2006) with Sir David Attenborough returning as narrator.
The seven-part series focuses on life and the environment in both the Arctic and Antarctic. The production team wanted to film a comprehensive record of the polar regions to document the effects of climate change on glaciers, ice shelves, and sea ice.
The sequel, Frozen Planet 2, aired in 2022 with music composed by Hans Zimmer.
