German Voice Actor
After studying theater and sociology, Engelhardt took acting lessons and played various roles at German state theaters. He then worked for a time at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe as an actor and director, before working for nine years at SWR as an announcer and presenter. As an actor, he could be seen in the Curd-Jürgens-Tatort Rot, Rot, Tot.
In addition, Engelhardt is known as a voice actor, into this industry he came by chance around the mid-1970s. His first major role was that of Don Diego Vega (Zorro) in Westerns of Yesterday, played by Reed Hadley. Since then, he lent his distinctive voice to prominent colleagues such as Humphrey Bogart (Out at Night), Malcolm McDowell (Cat People) and David Selby (Falcon Crest). He was also heard as black cat Salem Saberhagen in Sabrina - Total Verhext! or as dog Brian Griffin in Family Guy; for the role of Brian Griffin, Engelhardt was replaced by Joachim Höppner for eight episodes (12-16, 18-20) in the third season. Since 1989, he has also directed dialogue, including for Beverly Hills, 90210, and written dialogue books.[2]
In addition to these activities, Engelhardt is also active as a radio play and audio book narrator. He has set to music all the works of Magdalen Nabb or Ben Berkeley, including News of the Magician by Edgar Wallace.
