Nika was born with the ability to absorb the skills of the dying. Ostracized by her family, she travelled to Japan, where she became the apprentice to the crimelord Lord Death Man under the codename Flatline. While partaking in a tournament on Lazarus Island, she met and befriended Damian Wayne, the superhero Robin, and the two quickly became romantic partners.
