Eros Volúsia, stage name of Heros Machado (Rio de Janeiro, June 1, 1914 - January 1, 2004), was a Brazilian dancer who became famous nationally and internationally through her own choreographies inspired by Brazilian culture. She was the daughter of the Brazilian poet Gilka Machado. Volúsia achieved success with her participation in the film Rio Rita (1942), but preferred to return to Brazil rather than pursue a career in Hollywood. with a more sensual and spontaneous style than her rival Madeleine Rosay, her movements influenced Carmem Miranda who, unlike her, insisted on an international career. "She was the first ballerina to dance samba in ballet shoes and the first to dance barefoot at the Municipal Theater", as recorded in an academic study; she was also the first to perform the role that would later be classified as "dancer-researcher", transcending the work of technical study to also unite artistic sensitivity with what she recorded.
