Lord Earnest Eleuthere (1524–1620) was a Master Assassin and Mentor of the British Brotherhood of Assassins during the Tudor Period. He is an ancestor of the 21st century Assassin Solomon Olaf as the modern-day character through the maternal line and the main protagonist of Netflix series adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. Earnest Eleuthere was the second last surviving Assassin of the 16th century after the Spanish Assassin Aguilar de Nerha of the Spanish Inquisition back in 1492. Eleuthere's role as an Assassin is to take down the tyranny of King Henry VIII, the King himself had turned England into a state terror as he had two of his wives, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, executed on dubious charges of adultery, incest, and treason in show trials to end his marriages, and forced the English Reformation to secure his divorce from Catherine of Aragon, declaring himself the Supreme Head of the Church of England as well as joining the Templar Order. The 1534 Treason Act then made it a capital offense (punishable by death) to deny his new title or even speak against the King, his marriage, or his religious policies, including his hatred of the Assassins which effectively criminalizing thought and dissent by using his Apple of Eden to control the populace. When Henry VIII dissolved over 800 monasteries and religious houses, seizing their immense wealth and lands to enrich the crown and reward loyal supporters, an act that displaced thousands of religious individuals and eliminated a key bastion of Catholic resistance who helped the Assassins against the order to bring England under Templar control.
