Matthew Michael "Matt" Murdock is a lawyer and vigilante from New York City; Hell's Kitchen known as Daredevil. He was blinded at young age in a chemical accident that also gave him special abilities like superhuman senses, agility, reflexes, stamina, coordination, and balance. He was the son of Jack Murdock, a boxer, and Margaret Grace, a nun. However, his mother left when he was young and his father was killed by gangsters after refusing to throw a fight, leaving Matt orphan. He eventually went into tutelage of a blind sensei known as "Stick", who trained Matt to become a highly skilled martial artist. In adulthood, Matt graduated from Columbia University and began fighting crime in Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil, which puts him in conflict with several supervillains like Kingpin and Bullseye. He also becomes a respected lawyer and eventually forms the law firm Nelson & Murdock with his best friend Foggy Nelson. He also had a relationship with his co-worker, Karen Page, and the ninja assassin Elektra Natchios.
