Colonel Squeakums is a rat mutant from floor 1, and Ernest's companion. He fights alongside Ernest in battle and lives with him in Ernest's Base. When talking to Ernest, Colonel Squeakums normally only squeaks. If Sam is wearing the Rusty Crown from the Rat King, Sam can understand what he says. A day after the player reaches the Ground Floor, Ernest and the Colonel will be attacked by a mob of labyrinth rats. The player will find Colonel Squeakums in their shelter with his snout torn off, crouching in a mass of gore that initially appears to be Ernest. If the player has the Rusty Crown, the Colonel will be able to explain what happened. Either way, if the player does not kill him there, Colonel Squeakums will lead them to a hidden hole in the wall in the halls, which enters Rat Hell. The Colonel will also disappear from the shelter after another day has passed.
