Charlotte "Charley" Calliope Mia Ryder is a fictional character created by MisterWolf and the titular main protagonist of Wolf's MyCast.IO franchise The Chronicles of Charlotte Ryder. First introduced as a farming apprentice to her father, Maverick, in the first installment entitled The Bounty of Ryder, Charley is kind-hearted but displays much of her father's brutal rage and hatred for organized crime, made worse when he is shot down and murdered, and then found in his pool of blood by Charley and her mother Susan, his wife. Three years later, when her mother falls ill and joins Maverick in death, a nineteen-year-old Charley tracks down her father's killers, eventually finding them and gunning them all down, before she confronts the man behind it, Harrison Rake, who replies that he tried to stop them from killing Maverick when the latter told him his side of the story of his brother's death and he believed him. He challenges Charley to a duel, which she agrees to and wins with a single shot to his heart. In the second film, which is a prequel entitled The Bounty of Ryder Part II, Charley is revealed to have first been the apprentice of Clinton Ward, training to become a bounty hunter. After Ward dies of tuberculosis, she is eventually kidnapped by Harrison's brother Benjamin alongside her mother, only for him to be killed by marshall Franklin Willis. Charley is portrayed by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who is known for playing the title character in Firestarter who was similarly given Charley's name, but it was spelled slightly different. She is depicted throughout the franchise save for the second film to wear a large brown trench coat which belonged to Maverick, a cape, her father's hat, black pants and boots, and one black glove, and carries her father's weapons. Since her debut in The Bounty of Ryder, Charley became an iconic central character and has been cited as one of the greatest protagonists in American cinema, one of the greatest film characters ever introduced, and one of the most sympathetic and tragically heroic characters in cinematic history.
