On July 9th 2023, Mckenna posted a video on TikTok with footage of the music video for the song with a Capcut template of Steve Carrell from the office with a boombox. The text on the video said: ’nobody; Me when anybody asks if I have new music:‘ On July 11th she posted a video of herself on TikTok of herself lip-syncing the same snippet’s lyrics and and showing her dog. On July 21st she announced the song’s release on her Instagram with the caption: ‘Told you I’m not a casual kisser…did you hear what I said?💋8/4’ Casual Kisser was then released on the 4th of august 2023. Grace said it’s not for her upcoming debut Album but more that was supposed to be a transition from her previous music to her upcoming songs. From her pop-rock debut EP “Bittersweet Sixteen” to her folk/ballad-pop sophomore EP “Autumn Leaves”. McKenna Grace said in an interview on the Zach Sang Show that the song is about her experiencing being love-bombed. In the song, Grace talks about how she isn’t used to relationships, hence, she isn’t a casual kisser, and how she is also not used to heartbreak.
