Biography

The original 11-issue run of Black Lightning. The first ten issues were written by Tony Isabella, while the eleventh was written by Dennis O'Neil. All issues were penciled by Trevor von Eeden. The run introduced Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, a former Olympic athlete turned high school teacher. His allies were his tailor and confidant Peter Gambi, his student Earl Clifford, Principal Chapin, his fellow teacher (and future wife) Lynn Stewart, his informant Two-Bits Tanner, and Inspector Henderson. The main antagonists of the first eight issues were the 100, consisting of Tobias Whale, Joey Toledo, Syonide, and the Cyclotron Man. Other enemies include the League of Assassins, the Annihilist, the Trickster, and Major Thaddeus Corpo.
