The Kingdom of Benara or simply Benara (Swahili: Ufalme wa Benara; Lingala: Bokonzi ya Benara; Kituba: Kimfumu ya Benara; Kinyarwanda: Ubwami bwa Benara) is a fictional country in Central and East Africa. The capital city with a Bantu-derived name called Zambali meaning "The Golden Horizon" (formerly Port Victoria, where it was named during the 1875 protectorate era; a hub for the British and Indian workers who built the rail lines). The country was nicknamed "The Emerald Throne of Africa" (Reflecting both its immense wealth and its diverse, lush landscapes) which derived from the ancient phrase Be-Nara, meaning "Land of the Eternal Sun." Benara’s official languages are English, Swahili, Kongo and Kinyarwanda. English became the sole national language of the country to all Benarans, with a prestigious blend of Received Pronunciation (British) and Mid-Atlantic (American) English, rhythmic with the tonal inflections of Bantu and Nigerian accents. It is considered the "Gold Standard" of African English. The cars of Benara are very American when they drive on the right side of the road like the United States. The modern Benaran identifies as a global citizen who respects the ancient Warriors while embracing world-class science. The largest ethnic majority of Benaran people are black (African), while Indians became a minority of the country. The Benaran Shilling is one of the world's strongest currencies, backed by massive deposits of rare minerals found beneath the Serengeti plains and a tech-sector that rivals Silicon Valley. The British Protectorate period began after the British military dismantled the human-sacrifice cults. The Chief was exiled to London, and the country was modernised by British settlers and Indian migrants. Benara was the first sub-Saharan nation to gain freedom from British colonial rule, flourishing as a Constitutional Monarchy. From 1960 until he was overthrown in 1988, General Malakor, seized power in a fascist military coup that transformed Benara into a totalitarian dictatorship from 1960 until he was overthrown in 1988. He was a Hitlerian figure who suppressed the arts and forced the Royal Family to flee to Manhattan. After 28 years of exile in New York, the Royal Family returned to Zambali following a popular uprising against Malakor when he fled to London in exile. This "Manhattan Influence" is why modern Benaran English has such a strong American flair. Benara is home to High-altitude jungle rainforests, river veins, the vast Serengeti home to Lions, Zebras, Elephants, Rhino, Buffalos and Giraffes.
