Arnold McKinley is one of the Pontypandy firefighters. He was introduced in the feature-length special Heroes of the Storm along with Ellie Phillips.
After completing his training at the Newtown Fire Academy he joined the Pontypandy Fire Service with fellow graduate Ellie Phillips.
Arnold is a computer whizz and the team’s tech person. He loves technology and only has to look at a new piece of equipment to know what components it has and how he could improve it. Arnold is determined to get all the best tech-gear for the Pontypandy Fire Service and is sure that if there’s anything they can’t get hold of, he will be able to make it himself.
During Heroes of the Storm, he is shown to have a bit of a rocky relationship with Elvis at first, mostly on the former's side, but after he is saved by the latter, he learns to respect him despite his goofy flaws.
Arnold is a bit nerdy and can be a bit of a know-it-all. He tends to nit-pick and is very happy pontificating about water pressures, hose gauges and combustibility, but, as of yet, he doesn't have the practical firefighting experience to back it up. He is thoughtful and quietly spoken and therefore a calm influence on the team but don’t be fooled by his placid demeanor, Arnold’s brain is working faster than Jupiter can accelerate around a corner and his quick thinking in an emergency has helped the team on many occasions.
Arnold can sometimes seem over-analytical and uses lots of words that Elvis can’t understand, particularly when he’s discussing Wallaby Two’s comprehensive avionic suite. But he often utilizes his tech skills to help people. He has assisted Joe in his creation of the Fire Dog 2000, he created the online platform for Mandy and Sarah’s Pontypandy Planet and along with Elvis he turned Venus into the Sam Mobile (later known as Venus 2).
