Argus is a shipbuilder. During the events of Jason and the Argonauts (1963) played by Laurence Naismith Argus is hired by Jason to build a boat which Jason calls the Argo. He then sails with Jason and the other Argonauts to find the Golden Fleece. When the Argonauts grumble about their hands from rowing he suggests they use brine to toughen their hands. After being freed from King Aeetes' prison by Medea, Argus goes with Castor and Phalerus to help Jason. They warn Jason that King Aeetes' soldiers are nearby and follow him as they try and escape with the Golden Fleece. Argus is sent by Jason with Medea and the Golden Fleece back to the ship while he, Castor and Phalerus fight the Skeletons born from the Hydra's teeth.
