Ir. Djandji Akbar Zahiruddin Tandjung (born 14 August 1945), more commonly called Akbar Tandjung, is an Indonesian politician who served as Chairman of the People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) from 1999 to 2004. As a member of the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar), he also served as general chairman of the party from 1999 to 2004, and was a member of the DPR RI from East Java from 1977 to 2004. Akbar completed a doctoral level dissertation in Political Science at Gadjah Mada University in 2007
