Adelaide Chiozzo (São Paulo, May 8, 1931 — Rio de Janeiro, March 4, 2020) was a Brazilian actress and accordionist. She was a star of Atlântida Cinematográfica (acting in 23 films, including musicals with Oscarito and Grande Otelo ) and a renowned singer on Rádio Nacional, where she worked for 27 years, participating in programs such as "Alma do Sertão" and "Gente Que Brilha". In her more than twenty recorded albums, she is known for hits such as " Beijinho Doce ", "Sabiá na Gaiola", "Pedalando", and "Recruta Biruta". She received several awards and trophies, including the title of "Brazil's Sweetheart" (the first in the country), and also acted in Rede Globo soap operas : Feijão Maravilha and Deus nos Acuda. Adelaide, with her famous accordion , has performed in almost every Brazilian city, along with her husband Carlos Matos, a respected Brazilian guitarist, and her show "Cada um Tem o Acordeon que Merece" (Everyone Has the Accordion They Deserve) was acclaimed by critics as the best show of 1975. In April 2003, she was honored by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Ceará with the honorary title of "citizen of Ceará". She died on March 4, 2020. The artist had been hospitalized for 12 days in the ICU of the Hospital Evangélico, in Rio, when she suffered a pulmonary thromboembolism and ultimately did not survive.
